Basic Training

Get your puppy started off on the right paw. This training is critical for puppies as it covers everything from social skills, bonding, house manners and basic obedience.

  • Accepting a friendly stranger

  • Bonding

  • Crate training/manners

  • Proper feeding

  • Potty time

  • Out for a walk (walking on a loose lead, “heel command”)

  • Up and down stairs

  • Coming when called

  • Sit and down command and staying in place

  • off” command (used for dogs/puppies who are jumping up on owners)

  • Leave it” command

I tend to use a lot of motivational training with food. Please make sure that you have your dogs favourite, easy to chew treats that will help with distractions.

Classes run for approximately 30-45 minutes once per week (or more depending on how the dog is progressing). I encourage at least 2 family members to attend training with their dog.

Advanced Training

Once your puppy/dog has mastered the basics, they are ready for advanced training. This training reinforces what was learned in the basic training while adding in a few more advanced commands, and focuses more on recalls and longer “down stays” and “waits”.

  • Waiting at the door to go out and come back into the house

  • Training your dog to sit right in front of you after completing a “come command”

  • Reinforced “leave it” command

  • Sit, Stay, Wait, Down Stay

  • “Closer” command

  • “ Around” command

  • Coming when called

Please make sure that you have your dogs favourite toy, treats that will help with distractions

Owners are encouraged to purchase a 30ft long lead to aid in recall training.
